CHITTAGONG, Oct 15: The much-awaited Chittagong University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) and hall union elections were held today (Wednesday).
According to Chief Election Commissioner Prof. Dr. Monir Uddin, over 60 per cent of the total votes have been cast in the elections. Counting was ongoing until the last report was filed at 8:30 pm.
Voting started at 9:30 am and continued until 5 pm today, with voters waiting in lines. The results will be announced after the counting is completed.
A festive mood enveloped the CU campus as students turned out in large numbers to cast their first-ever votes in the long-awaited CUCSU elections today.
Students were visibly happy, taking photos, and discussing their favorite panels, creating a lively atmosphere across the campus.
Candidates and their supporters were also present near polling centers, engaging with voters, delivering last-minute messages, and encouraging them to vote.
During a visit to the polling centers today, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of CU Professor Mohammad Yahya Akhter stated, "All necessary measures have been taken to ensure a free, fair, and credible election," as it would also serve as a rehearsal for the upcoming national election."
