Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the two-day Bangladesh Development Forum (BDF) today with the theme 'Partnership for development', reports BSS.

The main focus of BDF will be on the review of the 7th Five Year Plan (7FYP) alongside sharing the country's challenges and way forward on SDGs with the development partners as Bangladesh would require additional financing of $928 billion by 2030 to successfully attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Finance Minister AMA Muhith will chair the inaugural session of this flagship event of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) to be held at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon.

It would be the 3rd such edition of BDF after the first one in 2009 and the 2nd in 2015.

There would be various sessions during the event, including on investment and FDI, said Finance Minister AMA Muhith while speaking about the Forum at a press conference Monday.

"The issue of transition of Bangladesh from LDC to the middle-income status would also come up for discussion in the Forum," said the finance minister.

According to the ERD, Director-General and CEO of OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Suleiman Jasir Al-Herbish, World Bank vice president for South Asia region Annette Dixon, vice president of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Wencai Zhang, deputy director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan Minoru Masujima and other national and international high level delegates would attend the event.

The key note session of the Forum will be devoted to 'Implementation of the 7th FYP and the SDGs: Challenges and the Way Forward'.
