Positivity rate crosses 2.0pc

Covid-19 test positivity rate exceeded 2.0 per cent in Bangladesh on Friday after a couple of months with authorities reporting 342 new virus cases.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) recorded the Covid-19 infection rate at 2.02 per cent on the day while the rate was 1.95 per cent on Saturday.

On the other hand, a single death from coronavirus was reported in Bangladesh during the last 24 hours until 8:0am on Friday.

With the latest daily counts, total death toll from coronavirus reached 28,055 since the virus was first detected in Bangladesh in March 2020.

Some 16,913 samples were tested, including antigen-based rapid tests, while 16,853 samples were collected across the country

during the last 24 hours.

However, 292 more people had recovered from the Covid-19 during the last 24-hour reporting time.

The rate of recovery from the coronavirus disease was reported at 97.74 per cent on the day.

On the other hand, the rate of fatalities from Covid-19 remained static at 1.77 per cent.

According to the DGHS data, the total Covid-19 caseloads exceeded 1.58 million and more than 1.546 million of them recovered in the country.

However, over 11.36 million samples have so far been tested in the country since March 2020.
