Swearing-in of new CEC, colleagues tomorrow

The newly appointed chief election commissioner (CEC) and four other commissioners will take oath tomorrow (Sunday).

Shafiqul Islam, public relations officer of the Supreme Court, in a press note said the oath-taking ceremony would take place around 1:30 pm.

Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed will administer the oath.

Former secretary AMM Nasir Uddin was appointed as the CEC of the Election Commission on Thursday. Four commissioners were also picked the same day.

They are former additional secretary Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar, former district and sessions judge Abdur Rahmanel Masud, former joint secretary Begum Tahmida Ahmad and Brig Gen (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin appointed the CEC and others in line with section 118 (1) of the constitution.
