The number of tested samples in Bangladesh crossed 1.5 million on Thursday and 20.30 per cent of which were found Covid-19 positive, official figures showed.
Bangladesh reached the milestone on 171st day since the detection of the first coronavirus case on March 08.
A total of 15,125 more samples have been tested in the last 24 hours ending on Thursday noon.
From the latest medical screening of corona suspects, 2,436 more people were confirmed positive, taking the total caseload to 304,583, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
When fatalities are concerned, Thursday was not encouraging for the nation as 45 more patients died from Covid-19 that has adversely impacted the socio-economic order in Bangladesh like elsewhere.
This was the 17th largest single-day spike in deaths recorded so far in the worst-hit nation of more than 165-million population.
Of the latest fatalities, 42 succumbed at hospitals and three others at home.
But the good part of the day was the increasing number of recovery as 3,275 more corona patients tested negative and the rate jumped to 63.52 per cent.
According to Thursday's coronavirus bulletin, a total of 15,124 samples were tested countrywide since Wednesday noon. Now, the overall number of tests reached 1,500,385.
Of them, 2,436 samples were found Covid-19 positive along with 45 more deaths recorded across the country during the period, it mentioned.
"With these numbers, the overall tally of confirmed cases and deaths rose to 304,583 and 4,127 respectively," said the bulletin signed by DGHS additional director general Dr Nasima Sultana.
Of the total deaths, 1,990 were recorded in Dhaka division followed by Chattogram (908), Khulna (340), Rajshahi (277), Sylhet (187), Rangpur (177), Barisal (159) and Mymensingh (89).
At the same time, the DGHS data also revealed that Thursday's 3,275 cured cases took the entire tally of recovery to 193,458.
Globally, more than 24.3-million people have caught coronavirus and 830,364 died until 6:00 pm on Thursday, according to worldometer.info.
