Three more die of Covid, 243 infected in BD

Three people died from coronavirus and 243 more new cases were reported during the last 24 hours until 8:0am on Friday.

With the latest daily count, the total fatalities from Covid-19 reached 27,989 since the virus was detected in the country in March 2020.

A total of 17,387 samples were tested, including antigen tests, during the last 24-hour reporting time while 17,473 samples were collected during the period.

However, the Covid-19 test positivity rate slightly inched up further to 1.40 per cent on the day against the previous day's 1.24 per cent, the GDHS data revealed.

On the other hand, a total of 225 people recovered from the disease in the country during the last 24-hour reporting time.

The rate of recovery was reported at 97.77 per cent on the day, said a DGHS press release.

On the other hand, the rate of fatalities from coronavirus remained static at 1.77 per cent.

According to the official data, the total Covid-19 cases exceeded 1.577 million in Bangladesh and nearly 1.541 million of them recovered from the deadly disease.

Meanwhile, more than 10.94 million samples were tested since March last year.
