The Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB) has strongly criticised the government-formed committee on road safety led by former shipping minister and transport leader Shajahan Khan.
Former state minister for LGRD and cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga and some labour leaders are also on the committee which is conflicting, it observed.
The TIB expressed its concern in a statement on Tuesday, saying that the committee is already in question as controversial figures are on it.
The government recently formed a 15-member panel designed to provide recommendations to curb road accidents and bring discipline in the transport sector.
Mr Khan is executive president of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation while Mr Ranga and Khondaker Enayet Ullah are president and secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association.
