Tigers beat Zimbabwe by 28 runs in 1st ODI

Bangladesh beat visiting Zimbabwe by 28 runs in the first ODI of the three-match series held on Sunday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in the city, reports BSS.

Bangladesh innings - 271 for 8 in 50 overs, Kayes 144, Saifuddin 50, Mithun 37, Kyle Jarvis 4/37 and Tendai Chatara 3/55.

Zimbabwe innings - 243 for 9 in 50 overs, Williams (50 n.o), Jarvis (37) Cephas 35, Peter Moor 26, Ervine 24, Masakadza 21, Brandon (20), Mehidy 3/46 and Nazmul 2/38.

Imrul Kayes was adjudged Man of the Match.

Earlier, opener Imrul Kayes has scored an ODI career-best of 144 helping Bangladesh to a substantial total of 271-8 after a shaky start and sudden shocks.

Zimbabwe's Tendai Chatara picked up the wickets of Liton Das and Fazle Mahmud in the sixth over to leave the Tigers at 17-2.
