Covid-19 disease claimed 27 more lives and infected 1,442 individuals afresh in the country during the 24-hour period until Monday morning.
With these, the total number of fatalities and positive cases rose to 5,375 and 3,70,132 respectively since march, said a daily statement - issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS reported fatality rate at 1.45 per cent, recovery rate at 76.51 per cent, and detection rate at 18.49 per cent.
The statement, signed by the DGHS additional director general Dr Nasima Sultana, also said some 1,526 people recovered from the disease, taking the total figure to 2,83,182.
The country reported first Covid-19 case on March 8 and first death on March 18.
Among the newly deceased, one was within 21-30 years, another between 31-40, three between 41-50, eight within 51-60, and remaining 14 were above 60 years old. The number of new deaths comprised 17 males and 10 females.
More than half of the total or 18 deaths took place in Dhaka division, while four died in Chattogram, one in Rajshahi, three in Khulna, and one in Barishal.
All of them, except two, died in hospital, the DGHS statement added.
The country tested 20,01,431 samples in the country, which include the 11,767 tests that were conducted in the latest reporting period, and 109 laboratories are conducting the test.
A total of 687 individuals were taken to quarantine afresh and 173 in isolation to help minimise the risk of further virus spread.
With these, a total of 41,957 and 14,189 are staying in quarantine and isolation respectively.
Bangladesh is currently the 16th hardest hit nation in the global list in terms of the number of cases, according to information portal Worldometer.
The nation is the fourth worst-affected in Asia after India, Iran and Iraq.
Over 35.44 million people have been infected with the deadly coronavirus so far, which has also claimed over 1.04 million lives.
