3 killed in road crash in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Mar 13: Three persons, including two school-going siblings, were killed after a passenger bus crashed into a battery-powered rickshaw on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in Chattogram.

The accident took place at Dohazari Bazar under Chandanaish upazila around 8:30 am on Thursday.

The victims were identified as Rizvi Akhter (14), her brother Adil (12) and rickshaw-driver Ruhul Amin (45).

The siblings, who hailed from Jamirjuri under Chandanaish, were heading to their tutoring classes on the battery-run vehicle.

Shuvo Ranjan Chakma, officer-in-charge of Dohazari Highway Police, said the rickshaw was turning onto the highway from a back road near Dohazari Bazar when it collided with a Purabi Paribahan bus that was heading towards Chattogram from Bandarban.

The two brothers-Adil and Rizvi-died on the spot, while driver Ruhul succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
