32 students including Rashed get bail

One of university students, arrested and jailed during the recent protest for safe roads, bursting into tears after being freed from Dhaka Central Jail at Keraniganj off the capital on Monday — Focus Bangla

Dhaka courts granted bail on Monday to 32 university students including Rashed Khan, accused in separate cases filed over violence during the student movement demanding quota reform and safe roads, reports UNB.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sorafuzzaman Ansari granted bail to 20 students including Rashed Khan, joint convener of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council.

Rashed was arrested from the Bhasantek area of the city on July 01, in a case filed under Information, Communication and Technology Act with Ramna Police Station over vandalising the house of Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman on April 08.

Meanwhile, 12 other students including four of private universities, who were detained from safe road movement, were also granted bail from separate courts over attacking police during the movement. A number of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates granted bail to them after hearing their separate bail petitions.

Earlier on Sunday separate courts here granted bail to 40 private university students, accused in separate cases filed over vandalism and attacks on police, during the student movement demanding safe roads.
