4 more children die of measles, symptoms in 24 hrs

Four more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours until 8:0 am on Thursday.

With the latest daily tally, the total death toll due to measles and such syndromes reached 605 this year since Mid-March.

On the other hand, a total of 1,136 suspected measles cases were reported across the country during the past 24 hours, according to the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Since March 15 this year, the total number of suspected measles cases reached 75,708, the DGHS reported.

A total of 69 confirmed measles cases were reported during the past 24 hours, raising the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 9,260 since March 15, according to the DGHS.

Between March 15 and June 4, a total of 61,194 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.

During the same period, 57,043 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

The highest number of suspected measles cases was recorded in Dhaka Division, where 35,508 people have been affected. Of them, 6,480 cases have been confirmed as measles cases.
