5 more children die with measles, symptoms in 24 hrs

Five more children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours until 8:0 am on Friday.

With the latest daily count, the total date toll from measles and measles-like symptoms reached 610 since March 15 last, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the total 610 fatalities, 519 were reported as suspected measles cases while 91 were confirmed as measles cases, said the DGHS in its daily bulletin on Friday.

Besides, 1,168 patients were identified as suspected measles cases, while 243 were detected as confirmed measles patients, according to the health authorities.

Among the fresh fatalities, four were reported in Dhaka while the remaining one was reported in Sylhet division.

So far, 9,503 patients have been confirmed as measles patients, and 62,287 patients have been hospitalised as suspected measles patients since mid-March.

A total of 58,154 patients have been released from hospitals after getting treatment.
