700 more flee to BD from Myanmar

COX'S BAZAR, Mar 8: Influx of Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar to Bangladesh still continued despite a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two countries.

According to sources on the Bangladesh-Myanmar, at least 700 more Rohingyas people entered Bangladesh through different points of Teknaf in last two days since Wednesday.

Over the last seven days at least 1,200 Rohingya people crossed into Bangladesh from Myanmar through Noakhalia Para, Sabrang and Sahporir Dip of Teknaf upazila after crossing the Naf river.

With this about 700 thousand Rohingya people entered Bangladesh fleeing violence in Myanmar since August 25 last year.

Teknaf UNO Mohammad Robiul Hossain said that influx of the Rohingya increased suddenly. The arrivals did not stop despite a deal signed between the two countries.

The MOU was signed between Bangladesh and Myanmar on November 23 last year to start the repatriation process.

Newly-arrived Rohingya people said at present there is no peaceful environment in the villages of Rakhine state of Myanmar as the military and Buddhist terrorists jointly continued persecution of Rohingya Muslims silently.
