72 more in hospitals with dengue

A total of 72 people were admitted to hospitals with dengue across the countrywide in the past 24 hours until Friday 8.00 am.

With the latest count, total number of the dengue patients hospitalised in the country so far this year has reached 26,201, according to the daily bulletin of the DGHS.

The Directorate General of Health Services or DGHS also said hospitals in Dhaka admitted 70 patients and hospitals in other regions two patients.

Currently 517 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country including 423 in Dhaka and 94 outside.

The actual number of dengue positive cases will be much higher than the reported ones as all are not hospitalised for treatment.

Some 25,586 people have been released from hospitals after recovery from the mosquito-borne disease so far this year.

On the other hand, dengue claimed 98 lives this year, including seven in November, 22 in October, 23 in September, 34 in August and 12 in July.
