8 more children die with measles-like symptoms

Eight more children died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours until 8:00 am on Wednesday, according to the health authorities.

With the latest daily count, the total death toll due to measles and measles-like symptoms reached 639 since March 15 last, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its daily bulletin.

Of the total, the 547 children died with measles symptoms while 92 others were confirmed as measles cases.

During the past 24 hours, the health authorities recorded 945 new suspected measles cases, pushing the nationwide tally of suspected measles infections to 82,029.

On the other hand, 94 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases were also reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 9,927.
