Eight more children died from measles and suspected measles-related complications across the country in the 24 hours until Monday morning, taking the overall death toll to 628.
According to the latest data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), only one of the newly reported deaths was laboratory-confirmed as measles, while the remaining seven were classified as suspected cases.
With the latest fatalities, the number of suspected measles deaths has risen to 536, while confirmed deaths stand at 92.
During the same 24-hour period ending at 8:00am on Monday, health authorities recorded 1,092 new suspected measles cases, raising the cumulative number of suspected infections to 80,104.
The DGHS also reported 93 new laboratory-confirmed cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak began to 9,779.
Data from the health directorate show that 65,237 patients with suspected measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals nationwide since March 15.
Of them, 61,278 have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
