ACC finds irregularities in road repair on Bhola

Detects bribery at Savar land office

FE Report | May 09, 2019 00:00:00

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) revealed Wednesday huge irregularities in the renovation work of a road constructed under the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) in Bhola Sadar.

The commission found the irregularities during an enforcement drive after the local people halted the Tk 100 million repair work on the grounds of alleged anomalies.

The ACC team lead by its Barishal office assistant director Hafizur Rahman measured width and thickness of the newly-paved road.

In the primary investigation, the ACC found evidence of irregularities as width and thickness of the road mismatched at different points.

The commission suggested the RHD executive engineer take appropriate steps to ensure quality of the renovation work.

In another drive at the Hemayetpur camp office in Savar under Land Record and Survey Department, an ACC team observed incidents of bribery and other irregularities in land record and survey process.

The team detected a specific incident of bribery while delivering the 'porcha' of a land and it then served a show cause notice upon a surveyor.
