The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) submitted on Monday its annual report to President Md. Abdul Hamid with 120 proposals to get rid people of corruption-related hassles.

At the same time, the national anti-graft watchdog identified possible sources of corruption and irregularities in the government service delivery system, according to ACC sources.

In the report, the ACC suggested holding month-long land service fair across the country to prevent possible scopes of corruption in the land management. In such fair, people will get all kinds of services like registration, mutation and tax payment.

The ACC also suggested introduction of digitised land information system (LIS) to properly control land management.

To ensure hassle-free service from the department of immigration and passport (DIP), the commission recommended abolition of the existing system of police verification and photo attestation by gazetted officers.

It also proposed for extending the validity tenure of passport to 10 years from the existing 05 years.

For the health sector, the commission advised to hang citizens charter at the health care centres and nearby open places with all kinds of updated information that include stock of medicines.

In case of buying medical equipment, it suggested including an expert in the relevant field in the purchasing committee. It also recommended not allowing equipment buying in the healthcare centres that lack manpower.

After emerging from the Bangabhaban following submission of the report, the ACC chairman Iqbal Mahmood said the President asked them to show zero tolerance policy in combating corruption from the country's education sector.

To this effect, the President recommended the anti-graft watchdog taking all possible measures to ensure quality education in the classrooms, he said.

The ACC chief said the President also instructed the commission to take necessary actions to stop corruption in the health sector to reap benefits of the demographic dividend.

He also called upon the illegal occupants of the public property to surrender those to the state entities concerned to avoid strict legal action.

Mr Mahmood also said they will continue to take actions against the people involved in the loan fraudulences and other offensive acts.

A four-member ACC team including two commissioners AFM Aminul Islam and Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan went to the Bangababhan in the afternoon to submit the report.
