The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) summoned on Wednesday Deputy Inspector General of Police Mizanur Rahman on charges of abuse of power and gaining illegal wealth.
The ACC issued a letter signed by its deputy director Farid Ahmed Patowary to the DIG to appear before the commission office at Segunbagicha in Dhaka by 9:00am on May 03, said commission spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.
The commission received allegations that the DIG Mizanur, abusing his power, accumulated huge wealth through recruitment, transfer trade and lobbying.
He also bought luxury house, flats, plots and cars in his name and anonymously, and deposited a considerable amount of money in bank accounts and fixed deposits.
Earlier in January, the policeman was withdrawn from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) headquarters where he was an additional commissioner and attached to the Police headquarters after allegation of forced marriage and torturing the woman.
Recently, a news presenter of a private TV channel also lodged a general diary (GD) with Airport Police Station alleging that she has been harassed and received death threats over phone from Mizanur for a long time.
