Accused gives confessional statement

Sohel Rana, the prime accused in the case lodged over sensational killing of a schoolgirl, 8, in the city's Pallabi area on May 19, has given confessional statement, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Zunayed recorded the statement on Wednesday as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to record his statement under section 164.

Meanwhile, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashraful Haque sent Sohel's wife and  co-accused Swapna Akter to jail.

It also set June 11 for submission of probe report in the case.

The victim, a student of class two of a school in Pallabi, was raped and subsequently killed by Sohel Rana, a neighbour of the victim.

The girl's headless body was found hidden under a bed, while her severed head was discovered inside a bucket in the bathroom of Sohel Rana.

The case was filed with the Pallabi Police Station on Wednesday.
