AKM Mohsin has been elected as president of the Bangladesh Photo Journalists Association (BPJA) for 2025-26 term and Babul Talukder as its general secretary.
The election to the executive committee of the association was held at the BPJA office in Paltan area of the capital on Saturday.
The election was overseen by a three-member election commission led by Hasan Hafiz, President of the National Press Club, with Abu Saleh Akon, President of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), and Shahidul Islam, President of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), serving as members. Of 172 BPJA members, 163 cast their votes, according to the election commission.
AKM Mohsin bagged 80 votes to become president, narrowly defeating his rival Golam Mustafa, who secured 74 votes.
Mashiur Rahman Suman and Mohammad Jahidul Islam were elected as vice presidents, while Deluar Hussain Badal and Zahidul Islam Sazal claimed the posts of assistant general secretaries.
Others elected to the key posts include Salekuzzaman Razib -- organising secretary; Farid Uddin Siddiqi -- office secretary; and Khokan Shikder -- sports and culture secretary.
Nasim Sikder was elected as finance secretary and Md Shaurav as Publication and Publicity Secretary, both unopposed.
Besides, Shafiqul Alam, Amirur Islam, Mahbub Hussain Khan and Kazal Hazra were elected as executive members of the committee.
