The government has declared a one-day state mourning for today (Monday) following the death of Civil Aviation and Tourism and Land Adviser AF Hassan Ariff, who passed away from a cardiac arrest on Friday, report agencies.
Hassan Ariff, who also served as an attorney general, will be laid to rest at the Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard in Mirpur today (Monday).
The burial is scheduled for 10 am, as stated in a notification issued by Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid on Sunday.
During the day of mourning, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions, educational institutions, government and private buildings, and Bangladesh missions abroad, according to a notification from the Cabinet Division.
Special prayers will be held at mosques and other places of worship to seek eternal peace for the departed soul of the late adviser of the interim government.
In addition, the Council of Advisers formally adopted a condolence motion on Sunday in honor of Hassan Ariff, recognizing his contributions and showing deep respect for him.
The motion was approved during a special meeting of the Council of Advisers at the Chief Adviser's Office, chaired by CA Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
Adviser Hassan Ariff passed away at a hospital in the capital on Friday at the age of 85.
