Bangabandhu always thought about welfare of people: Kamal

FE Report | August 27, 2019 00:00:00

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, saying he always thought about the welfare of people and their economic emancipation.

"During his short span of life, Bangabandhu gave us necessary directives for our future," he said at a discussion marking the National Mourning Day, organised by the finance ministry employees' association at the secretariat on Monday.

His directives focused on future planning and ways to bridge the divide between urban areas and villages and the gap between the rich and the poor, said the minister.

Bangabandhu also spoke of the participation of all in the journey towards development, he added.

Mr Kamal also said the killers thought that they would be able to wipe out Bangabandhu's name from the hearts of the people, but they could not imagine that it is impossible to do so. Bangabandhu will remain forever in the hearts of the people, he added.

Presided over by the association president Enamul Huq, the function was also attended by senior secretary at the Financial Institutions Division Asadul Islam, finance division secretary Abdur Rouf Talukder and economic relations division secretary Monowar Ahmed.
