GERMANY, Jan 13 (BSS): Bangladeshi companies witnessed huge responses from buyers at the Heimtextil 2023' and the representatives of the companies were busy during the show with trade inquiries from Europe and other countries across the world.

With 2,400 exhibitors from over 120 countries, Heimtextil 2023 organised by Messe Frankfurt, one of the world's leading trade fair, congress and event organizers, showcased many products and concepts.

Around 20 Bangladeshi home textile manufacturing companies took part in the four-day trade show from January 10, 2023.

Among the Bangladeshi exhibitors, some companies, including Debonair Padding and Quality Solution, Jaantex Industries and Innovating Fabric Ltd, took part under Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) pavilion while the other companies, including ACS Textiles, Karupannya Rangpur, Momtex Expo, Zaber and Zubair and Shabab Fabrics, participated in the event directly.

These manufacturers rely on Heimtextil as an attractive platform for export business and as a trendsetting launch event where they presented their new season products at the start of the year.

Textile exporters said that Heimtextil has brought good prospects for Bangladesh to find new buyers along with the existing ones.

M Shahadat Hossain Sohel, Chairman of Bangladesh Terry Towel and Linen Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BTTLMEA), said the exhibition has created more opportunities for the Bangladesh textile industry, especially in the US market and European market.

"The fair was very good and got many buyers from Canada and Europe," he added.

Mohammad Shibley, Director of Marketing of ACS TEXTILE (BD) Ltd, said, "This was our first participation after the pandemic and we had an amazing response. Visitors came from Europe, the USA, New Zealand and other parts of the world."

Mohammad Mujtahid Noor, Director of the Debonair Padding and Quilting Solution Limited (DPQSL), said, "Actually, it was a gathering place of buyers and sellers. Every day, we met different existing and new buyers. The exhibition helped me to get new orders."

Md. Saiful Islam, Minister (Commercial), of the Bangladesh Embassy in Berlin, said the demand for home textiles is increasing, especially because consumers in the international markets are giving importance to changing home decor more frequently and are looking out for new and innovative products to innovate their homes and offices.

The major export destinations for Bangladeshi home textiles include Europe, the US, Japan, Canada, and Australia, he added.

He said, "The international exhibition offers a wide product range covering the entire fabric spectrum. Bangladeshi companies witnessed a huge response to the exhibition."

As per the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh is regularly exporting different types of home textile products such as terry towels, bedspreads, pillow covers, cotton table napkins, furnishing fabrics; cushion covers, bath linen, and other home furnishings.

In fiscal 2021-22, the export of Bangladesh's home textiles grew by nearly 43.28 per cent year-on-year.
