Barishal secure a qualifier spot

Fortune Barishal became the second team after Rangpur Riders to secure a spot in the Bangladesh Premier League 2024 qualifiers, report agencies.

They beat Dhaka Capitals by nine wickets in just 6.3 overs on Wednesday.

Barishal has been in exceptional form, winning nine out of 11 matches. With 18 points, they have secured a top-two finish,  ensuring their place in the first qualifier on February 03. They will play their final group-stage match against Chittogong Kings on February 01. Earlier, Barishal bowled Dhaka out for just 73 runs in their penultimate game of the Bangladesh

However, Mohammad Nabi, Tanvir Islam and Fahim Ashraf shared nine wickets among them to wreck havoc on Dhaka Capital which were asked to bat first. Each of the bowlers took three wickets evenly. James Fuller took the remaining wicket.

Only three batters of Dhaka could reach double digits with captain Thisara Perera making highest 15. Liton Das and Ronsford Beaton made identical 10 runs.
