BB asks banks to provide loan info of Thermax Group

The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has instructed all scheduled banks or lenders operating in the country to submit the detailed liability statements of Thermax Group and its associate entities.

On Tuesday, Department of Off-Site Supervision of BB sent a formal letter to the managing directors and chief executive officers of these banks.

The letter stated: "You are hereby instructed, with the approval of the appropriate authority, to submit the liability details of all entities under Thermax Group as of 30/11/2024 by 04/12/2024."

On June 30, 2024, in Narsingdi, workers from Adury Apparels Ltd under Thermex Group blocked the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, demanding payment for three months of overtime and outstanding wages.

At that time, the workers claimed that the factory authorities have not been paying overtime dues for the past three months.
