BB exec director Mezbaul resigns

Former spokesperson and executive director of Bangladesh Bank Md. Mezbaul Haque resigned on "personal grounds".

After the fall of the Awami League government, objections arose from the high level of the incumbent government regarding his continued tenure.

After that, he was transferred from the head office to the Rajshahi office of Bangladesh Bank.

He submitted his resignation on Tuesday citing personal reasons. This information was learned from central bank sources.

Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan told reporters on  Tuesday afternoon that he submitted his resignation citing personal reasons.

After August 05 last year, the then Bangladesh Bank Governor, Abdur Rouf Talukder, was not seen in public. The interim government appointed Ahsan H. Mansur as the new governor.

Mezbaul Haque was promoted to executive director in December 2022. He was given the responsibility of spokesperson on the same day. For a long time, he had been the officer in charge at the payment system department of the central bank.
