BD logs no Covid death, 1,685 newly infected in 24 hrs

Infections from Covid-19 in the country continue to increase as newly 1,685 people tested positive for the virus within 24 hours till Friday morning.

With these, the number of positive cases reached 19,62,213 in Bangladesh, according to the daily health bulletin issued by the DGHS.

The DGHS reported the infection rate at 12.18 per cent on Friday which was 14.32 per cent on Thursday and 13.30 per cent on Wednesday.

The country logged 1,399 cases on Thursday and 1,135 on Wednesday, which indicate an upward trend in infections from the viral disease.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin said 13,833 Covid-19 samples were tested in the latest reporting period.

The lion's share of the latest positive cases or 1,584 were detected in Dhaka, 71 in Chattogram, eight in Rajshahi, one in Rangpur, five in Khulna, one in Barisal, three in Mymensingh and three in Sylhet division.

At that time 185 people recovered from the disease.

As no new death was reported in the period, fatalities from the viral disease remained static at 29,135 while death rate was logged at 1.48 per cent for the entire pandemic period.

Bangladesh reported first Covid-19 positive case and fatalities from the disease in March 2020.
