BDRCS gets ready to face flood fallouts

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) took on Saturday a set of measures to assist the flood victims at different parts of the country.

It prepared its national disaster response team (NDRT), national disaster watsan (water and sanitation) response team (NDWRT), unit disaster response team (UDRT) and volunteers of the flood-hit districts' Red Crescent offices.

Besides, the youths and volunteers of the BDRCS started providing dry and cooked food to the flood victims.

They started campaigning and taking away the people living on hillsides in Chattogram and other adjoining hill districts to safer places to avert any loss of life in landslides.

The BDRCS in an emergency meeting at its city office on the day discussed elaborately the flood situation.

Secretary General of BDRCS Md Feroz Salahuddin chaired the meeting.

He said the disaster response team of the BDRCS would rush to help the flood victims with materials like hygiene kits, water purification tablets, tarpaulin sheets, jerry-cans, orsaline and other necessary medicines.

Besides, it will also set up mobile water purification plants to purify water from rivers and water bodies for the people in the flood-hit areas.

He said that they took all-out preparations for assisting the flood victims.

He called upon all the movement partners of the BDRCS to come forward in assisting the flood victims.

The BDRCS opened a control room to receive the latest information about flood.

Director (Health) of BDRCS Ekram Elahi Chowdhury told the FE that they prepared two medical teams and built stocks of necessary medicines for flood victims.
