BENAPOLE, Nov 9 (UNB): Trade between India and Bangladesh through the Benapole land port came to a halt on Thursday morning, following a strike enforced by C&F workers protesting the arrest of one of the members of the Benapole Customs Clearing & Forwarding Agents Staff Association.
Thousands of C&F workers blocked the Jessore-Benapole road from the morning and staged demonstration in the port area.
The loading and unloading of goods also remained suspended and vehicular movement including long route buses came to a halt as of Thursday evening.
Hundreds of trucks loaded with imported goods got stranded on both sides of the border.
Earlier, law enforcers arrested Mikail Hossain, the C&F worker and recovered a single shooter gun and two bullets.
