FENI, April 15, 2018 (BSS) - An intensified joint vigil of Bangladeshi and Indian frontier guards proved effective in confronting crimes in bordering areas in the southeastern Feni district, particularly in stopping the smuggling of contraband drugs, BGB officials said here today.

Border Guard Bangladesh's (BGB) Battalion 4 Commanding Officer (CO) Lieutenant Colonel Md Sahidur Rahman told a media briefing that they launched a coordinated and intensified point patrol with India's Border Security Force (BSF) in 2016 in the 103 kilometers border with Feni.

"We are conducting an intensified joint patrolling and drives the bordering areas to curb the trans-border crimes particularly smuggling," he told the briefing at Majumderhat Border Observation Post at southeastern Belonia Land Port here as a 11-member delegation of Indian journalists both print and electronic media came to Bangladesh at the invitation of BGB.
