BGP shoots two BD boys at Ukhia border

COX'S BAZAR, Nov 04: Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar shot two teenage boys at Ukhia border in Cox's Bazar on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Mohammad Nurul Islam (15), son of Amir Hossain, and Joynal Uddin (15), son of Shahabuddin, of Rahmater Beel village in the upazila.

"BGP men fired on them without any reason," Commanding Officer of the 34th battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Lt Col Manjurul Hasan Khan said.

BGB officials and locals said the incident took place on the bank of the Naf River when the boys were bringing their cows back and crossing the embankment around 2:30 pm.

Later, BGB members rescued them from the spot.

Nurul, who was shot in his left hand, was undergoing treatment at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital while another injured Joynal at Upazila Health Complex.

When contacted, Commanding Officer of the 34th battalion confirmed the matter and said the BGB authority sent a protest letter to the BGP in this regard.
