BNP to meet CA on April 16

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will hold a meeting with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on April 16 to press the demand for an election roadmap before December.

Sources said BNP sought time to discuss various issues, including the next general election.

BNP leaders confirmed that the Chief Adviser's office scheduled the meeting for April 16.

BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed told reporters on Wednesday that in the meeting, they would seek a certain roadmap to the election by December.

"Since there has been a haze in the statements of various parties on the election roadmap, we will call on him (CA) to make it clear," he said.

"We'll definitely ask the chief adviser for a  certain roadmap to the next parliamentary elections before December," Mr Ahmed stated.

"We'll say that there is enough time and the Election Commission will be able to complete all preparations by June." The Chief Adviser has assured that they are conducting all activities to hold elections by December, he added.

Meanwhile, BNP has announced rallies in Dhaka and other cities for today to protest against Israel's genocide in Palestine.

"Awaken the world's conscience. Let Israel's genocide in Palestine end. Let Palestinians' rights to their homeland be established," BNP said in a statement.
