BUET students on Wednesday did not attend classes for the second day in a row. They previously decided to boycott classes and exams until visible action was taken against those accused of being involved with Chhatra League's politics.

The administration of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) cancelled the dormitory seats for students who they suspect of being involved with Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

Following a complaint from BUET students requesting the cancellation of 55 individuals' seats, the BUET administration issued letters to the accused students informing them of the decision to revoke their seats in the residential halls.

Regarding the matter, BUET's Director of Student Welfare (DSW), Mohammad Al Amin Siddique, stated, "The seats of the accused were cancelled to maintain peace and order in the dormitories. However, the exact number is yet to be confirmed.

He urged students to join classes, stating, "Our investigation committee's work is ongoing. We urge the students to return to class."

BUET students said that they had filed complaints against 55 individuals to the central authorities.

"Some other seats have also been cancelled, involving individuals against whom we did not lodge central complaints," said a student seeking anonymity.

"However, the seats of all those we complained against have been cancelled," the student said, adding that all of the students, who had their seats cancelled, were associated with the BCL in some capacity.

Another BUET student, who also wished to remain anonymous, said, "We will hold a meeting tonight (Wednesday) and then make further decisions."

Earlier the students of BUET said that they will not attend classes or exams until visible action is taken.

BUET Vice-Chancellor Abu Borhan Mohammad Badruzzaman declined to comment regarding the issue.
