Chittagong reach BPL final beating Khulna by 2 wickets

Will face Barishal tomorrow

Chittagong Kings stormed into the final of this year's Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) beating Khulna Tigers by two wickets in the Qualifier-2 match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city on Wednesday, report agencies. They will face defending champions Fortune Barishal in final tomorrow (Friday).

Chasing 164 for victory, opener Khawaja Nafay was the bright spot, scoring an explosive 57 off 46 balls, featuring four fours and three sixes. For Khulna, Hasan Mahmud, Musfik Hasan took 4 wickets each and Nasum Ahmed bagged one.

Earlier, West Indian batter Shimron Hetmyer hit 63 off just 33 with six fours and four sixes to propel Khulna to 163 in the second qualifier against Chittagong.

Chittagong won the toss in their final attempt to make the final and opted to bowl first. They picked up quick wickets early in the innings. But Khulna managed to build their innings slowly. In the last five overs, Khulna posted 76 runs which helped them pass the 150-run mark.

While Hetmyer smashed 63, Mahidul Islam Ankon was their second-best run scorer with 41 off 32 balls with one four and three sixes. For Chittagong, Binura Fernando, a Sri Lankan left-arm pacer, took two wickets.
