The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has reported a mild cold wave in two districts, Dinajpur and Panchagarh, which is expected to continue until Wednesday.

According to the regular weather bulletin, a mild cold wave currently affects these areas, with a possibility of further expansion.

"This cold wave might expand tomorrow and could be the last one of this season, reports bdnews24.com. Temperatures are expected to rise after Jan 28-29," Meteorologist Shahinul Islam told bdnews24.com on Saturday.

The department's long-term forecast for January had predicted one to three mild-to-moderate cold waves and one or two severe cold waves.

Severe cold waves occur when minimum temperatures drop below 6 degrees Celsius over a large area. Temperatures between 6 to8 degrees indicate a moderate cold wave, while 8 to 10 degrees signify a mild one.

On Saturday morning, the country's lowest temperature was recorded at 9.2 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur, while Dhaka registered a minimum temperature of 15.4 degrees Celsius.

The bulletin said over the next 24 hours, beginning 9am Saturday, nighttime temperatures across the country may drop by 1-2 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures are likely to remain unchanged.

Moderate to dense fog may form in some areas from midnight to morning, potentially persisting until noon in certain locations.

The forecast also warned that dense fog might temporarily disrupt air travel, waterways, and road transportation.
