Cops recover schoolgirl's body in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 08: Patiya police recovered the blood-stained body of a schoolgirl from Beltola area on Saturday.

They also found a young man, Md Masud (25), in a critical condition on the spot at noon.

Sheikh Neyamat Ullah, officer-in-charge of Patiya police station, said the victim was identified as Rima Akhtar (15).

She was an eighth grader at Haidgaon High School.

The victim was the daughter of Manjurul Alam of Mohajan Para of Haidgaon village.

According to eyewitnesses, Masud killed Rima with a knife at Beltola and then attempted to kill himself.

However, the locals rushed to the scene and stopped him from taking his own life. Shyamol Dey, a senior teacher of the school, said Rima did not come to school on Saturday.

The police told school teachers that she was stabbed to death.
