Ctg Port handles record 3.25m TEUs of containers in FY 2021-22

CHATTOGRAM, July 1 (BSS): Chattogram Port has made a new record by handling over 3.2 million (32 lakh) TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of containers during the fiscal year 2021-22.

According to the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) data, a total of 32,55,358 TEUs of containers were handled through the country's prime seaport during the fiscal year 2021-22.

Meanwhile, the port has also handled 30,97,236 TEUs of containers during the fiscal year 2020-21.

CPA Secretary Omar Faruk told BSS that Chattogram port also handled 118.1 million (11 crore 81 lakh) tonnes of cargo goods in the outgoing fiscal year through 4231 ships.

Chattogram Customs House collected revenue of Tk 592 billion (59,256 crore) in the fiscal year 2021-22 against the target of Tk 640.65 billion (64,065 crore).

A total of Tk 510.57 billion (51 thousand 57 crore) was collected by Chattogram customs house in the previous financial year, the sources added.
