CHATTOGRAM, Jul 9: Private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres in the port city resumed services on Monday noon.
They started delivering medicare to patients some 20 hours after the service was halted following mobile court raids.
Owners of private clinics and diagnostic centres halted services sine die from 4:00 pm on Sunday.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted separate drives in the clinics on allegations of medical negligence and other irregularities.
The owners' wildcat strike sparked protests from different quarters as patients suffered a lot.
Dr Liaquat Ali Khan, general secretary of Chattogram Private Hospitals and Lab Owners Association, said they have called off the strike.
Earlier in the day, they discussed the matter with the local administration and leaders of Bangladesh Medical Association.
Mr Khan said they temporarily resumed medical care in all private clinics, hospitals and diagnostic centres on the administration's assurances.
The hospitals started providing services from Monday noon, said Mr Khan, also managing director of Max Hospital.
His infirmary had to pay Tk 10 lakh in fines for medical negligence and other irregularities.
Dr Abul Kashem, president of the association, also confirmed the resumption of health care to both old and new patients.
He said clinic owners have long been providing medical services to the patients sincerely.
They always put their best effort into health care. Considering the plight of patients, they resumed services, Mr Kashem mentioned.
