Cumilla zone gets 99pc VAT returns online in Oct

Some 99.41 per cent businesses under the Cumilla Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionarate have submitted VAT returns online in October.

The VAT zone has won the first position for the third time on submission of online VAT returns, said a press release on Wednesday.

Some 8,311 Business Identification Number (BIN) holders out of the total 8,360 submitted VAT returns online.

Commissioner of the VAT zone Mohammad Belal Hossain Chowdhury said the VAT wing achieved the success through effective monitoring, building awareness among the taxpayers and imparting training to its officials.

He appreciated the team work amid Covid-19 pandemic for expediting the automation step of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
