Dhaka Capitals posted 254-1 for the highest-ever Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) total and went on to beat Durbar Rajshahi by 149 runs at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Sunday, report agencies.

Ryan Burl stood out with his 47 in 32 balls for Rajshahi but the effort was not enough.

Earlier, Dhaka which lost all of the previous six matches came all guns blazing in quest of their first victory in the BPL as they posted a monumental 254-1 against Rajshahi, riding on century of Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim.

This was highest total in BPL history, breaking the join-highest record by Rangpur Riders and Comilla Victorians. While Rangpur amassed 239-4 against Chattogram in 2019, Victorians put up 239-3 against Chattogram in 2024.

Litton smashed a 55 ball-125 not out, laced with 10 fours and nine sixes, which is his first century in recognized T20 cricket. Tanzid who was dismissed in the last over hammered 64 ball-108 runs with six fours and eight sixes. It was Tanzid's second century in BPL, having hit 116 for Chattogram Challengers in the last season.

By doing so, he emulated Tamim Iqbal to hit two centuries in BPL.

They put up a record-breaking 241 runs in the opening stand and only the partnership was broken when Shafiul Islam dismissed Tanzid with three balls being left to complete the 20-over quota.

This was the biggest partnership for any wicket in BPL history, breaking the record of 201 by Rangpur Riders Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum for the second wicket stand against Dhaka Dynamites in 2017 BPL final.

The highest opening partnership was 197, by Khulna's Shahrair Nafees and Lu Vicent against Rajshahi in 2013.
