Dhaka dwellers, especially job holders returning home after work, suffered a lot on Wednesday due to severe traffic jams on several roads in different areas.
There were gridlocks in Gulistan, Purana Paltan, Mouchak, Malibagh, Moghbazar, Rampura, Bangla Motor, Karwan Bazar, Farmgate, Shyamoli, and some other areas.
A moderate pressure of vehicles, including buses, cars, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, motorbikes, and pedal-driven rickshaws, was seen on the roads until around 4:00pm.
But the number of vehicles and pedestrians increased after office hours. People waited at bus stops to catch buses, while there were long queues of vehicles on the roads.
"All buses are overcrowded. There are severe traffic jams. It will take longer for me to return home," Md Amir, a job holder waiting for a bus at Purana Paltan to go home in Shanir Akhra, told The Financial Express around 6:00pm.
