The chamber leaders of districts have called upon the government to provide loans to grassroots-level entrepreneurs at low interest rate and help them develop infrastructures that are necessary for the country's economic growth.
The call was made at a meeting of the council of chamber presidents held at the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) recently.
They also demanded withdrawal of the gazette notification issued by the government on the executive committee election to the district chambers.
President of the council and senior vice-president of FBCCI Sheikh Fazle Fahim chaired the meeting while FBCCI president Md Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin) was present as the chief guest.
The leaders also urged the FBCCI to extend necessary support to infrastructure development to tap the potentials at district level following the country's graduation from least developed country (LDC) status to a developing nation.
They also requested the district and the police administrations to include the district chamber leaders in various government programmes.
The representatives of 'B' class chambers urged the FBCCI to upgrade their chambers to 'A' class chamber.
FBCCI vice-president Md Muntakim Ashraf and representatives of 30 district chambers also attended the meeting.
