DNCC assigns 10 teams to inspect fire safety of buildings

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has formed 10 teams to inspect fire safety measures at buildings, reports bdnews24.com.
In the first round of their drive, the teams will check fire exit routes, fire doors and security guards' fire drill or training, Mayor Atiqul Islam said after inaugurating the teams on Saturday.
If any flaws are found, the owners of the buildings will be alerted first.The city corporation will take legal action against anyone who will reject the first notice, the mayor said.
Business enterprises housed in faulty buildings will lose licences in the second round of the drive, according to Atiqul.
The teams are led by the regional executive officer for each of the five regions of the DNCC.
There will be 10 to 15 members in each group consisting of representatives from the DNCC, fire service, private organisations and others.
The teams will use a checklist to inspect fire safety measure of high-rises.
They will put up warning signs at the entrances of the buildings with insufficient and poor fire security system.
The DNCC will award 20 buildings with a 'Model Building' title for complying with all fire safety measures.
