The Dhaka University (DU) authorities has taken a preliminary decision to cancel the undergraduate admission tests of 'Gha' and 'Cha' units under Social Sciences and Fine Arts Faculty respectively, from the 2021-22 academic session.
They will merge these two units with 'Ka', 'Kha' and 'Ga' unit tests under Science, Arts and Business Faculty respectively.
The upcoming admission tests of 2020-21 session, however, will be following five units like previous years-there will be 'Ka', 'Kha', 'Ga', 'Gha' and 'Cha' units.
The decision was taken at a deans' meeting on Sunday which was chaired by DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman.
Dr Akhtaruzzaman told reporters that the decision was taken for reducing examination stress of the students keeping in mind the three core groups students study at HSC level-Science, Arts and Business Studies.
The outline of the tests will be formed later and the preliminary decision of eliminating 'Gha' and 'Cha' unit admission tests will also be finalised at Academic Council meeting, he added.
