Earthquake felt in parts of country

Bangladeshis in Myanmar safe after earthquake

Tremor jolted various parts of the country, including Dhaka and Chattogram on Friday, reports UNB.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake originated in 16 km NNW of Sagaing, Myanmar.

The earthquake, lasting several minutes, was felt around 12:20 pm (March 28).

No reports of casualties have been received yet.

Meanwhile another report adds: All Bangladeshi citizens in Myanmar are safe after a strong earthquake shook the country, said Bangladesh ambassador to Myanmar on Friday.

Earlier, a strong earthquake of 7.2-7.7 magnitude was felt in northern Myanmar.

According to AP, the quake struck in the early afternoon, sending people streaming out of buildings and seeking shelter anywhere they could find it from the blazing sun.
