Ecnec okays 39 projects involving Tk 866.87b

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Sunday approved 39 projects involving an overall cost of Tk 866.87 billion, reports UNB.

The approval came from the weekly Ecnec meeting held at the NEC conference room in the city with Ecnec Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said, "A total of 40 projects were placed in today's Ecnec meeting. But Ecnec approved 39 projects involving an overall cost of Tk 866.87 billion."

Of the total estimated cost, Tk 664.66 billion will come from the national exchequer, while Tk 199.07 billion as project assistance and Tk 3.13 billion from the own funds of the organisations concerned.

The Planning Minister said Ecnec will sit in more meetings before the next general election if it does not go against the law.

He said the inflation rate came down to 5.40 per cent in October from 5.43 per cent in September last.

Of the 39 projects, 31 are new and the rest eight are revised ones.
