A fifth earthquake within a span of four days jolted the capital and adjacent areas on Thursday, report agencies.
The tremor on Thursday measured 3.6 on the Richter scale and was recorded at 4:15 pm, according to meteorologist Shahnaj Sultana of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The epicenter was located in Ghorashal, Narsingdi, 28 km northwest of the BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon, she said.
All five tremors had epicenters in different areas of Narsingdi, about 25 kilometers from the capital.
"The latest quake occurred at 4:15:20 pm today. Its epicenter was in Ghorashal, Narsingdi district, 44.5 kilometers away from Dhaka," said meteorologist Shahnaj Sultana of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Thursday.
The meteorological office's tremor monitoring center described the quake as "mild" but advised everyone to follow their previous recommendations, such as securing a sturdy table or similar object in a specific place in a room to take shelter during quakes instead of panicking.
The duty officer at the fire service, Rafi Al Faruk, reported no damage following the jolt today.
The strongest of the five quakes, a 5.7-magnitude tremor, struck early Friday, affecting the capital and various areas of the country. It claimed 10 lives, injured over 600 people, and damaged several buildings.
