Five more children die with measles symptoms in 24 hrs --

Single-day dengue death toll nil

The total number of child deaths related to measles has risen to 810 as five more children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours until 8:00am Friday .

Of the total fatalities, 95 were confirmed cases, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin. Meanwhile, as many as 950 suspected and 187 confirmed measles infections were recorded in the past 24 hours.

The total number of suspected measles infections rose to 122,150 and confirmed infections to 15,194.

In response to a measles outbreak rapidly spreading across the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has already vaccinated over 18.48 million children since April. Measles is a highly contagious viral disease, which affects individuals of all ages and remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally.

Meanwhile, 181 new cases of dengue hospitalisations were reported in the past 24 hours taking the total caseload to 12,201. A total of 39 people have died of dengue since January this year with no death recorded on Friday.
